"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness."

Our Beliefs
Christian Mennonite Conference’s Statement of Faith.
We believe in the one living eternal God in three persons: God, the Father; God, the Son; and God; the Holy Spirit; Creator of all things.
We believe in the deity, virgin birth, sinless humanity, substitutionary death, atoning blood, bodily resurrection, and ascension to heaven of Jesus Christ.
We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit, sent from God and indwelling every believer.

We believe that every born again believer should be baptized with water upon confession of his faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe in the literal resurrection of the body; external glory for believers in heaven, and everlasting punishment for unbelievers in hell.
We believe in the personal and bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ as King of kings and Lord of lords.
We believe that all governments are instituted by God and therefore are to be respected as such.
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are wholly inspired by God and are infallible and the final authority in faith and life.
We believe that man is a sinner by nature.
We believe that man is saved by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that man is a free moral agent.
We believe in the church as the body of Christ and its mission to fulfill the “Great Commission” of preaching, teaching, and discipling.

We believe that God instituted marriage as a permanent bond between male and female of the same faith.
We believe that every Christian should walk in love towards God and man, refraining from carnal strife and contentions in all areas of life.
We believe that the church has the obligation to keep pure the Body of Christ by disciplining those who have chosen to live in deliberate sin.
A History of
God's Faithfulness
The story of our Mennonite pilgrimage gives us insight into the development of our character, and our rich heritage as a people of faith. It is our hope that it will again and again spotlight the Lord Jesus Christ. He can be counted on to remain faithful to His every promise. He is the rock and the foundation of our faith.

1525
In considering the historical account of the CMC one must first consider where it all began. In 1525 three men Conrad Grebel, Georg Blaurock, and Feliz Manz challenged the practice of infant baptism by introducing adult baptism based on faith. This led to persecution and ultimately their deaths. Thus began the Anabaptist movement.
1870s
In the years 1874 to 1876 about 3000 Mennonites came to the East Reserve in Manitoba, mostly from the Bergthal Colony in Russia. Another 3900 people from the Russian Chortitza, Fuerstenland and Borosenko Colonies emigrated by 1880 to both the East (RM Hanover) and West Reserves (RM Stanley and others).
1883
By 1883, worship took place in 15 different homes, private schools, and the church in Chortitiz.
1536
In 1536 former Catholic priest Menno Simons adopted believers’ baptism and helped grow the movement despite continued persecution. It is from these people that a group formed known as Mennonites.
1870s
These Mennonites developed villages around which they farmed the land. Bishop Gerhard Wiebe settled in the new village of Chortitz (pronounced “gor-teetz”) near Randolph in the RM of Hanover where the first church was built. It was because of this location where the bishop lived that the new church was named “Die Mennoniten Gemeinde Zur Chortitz” which then became the Chortizer Mennonite Church.
2015
In 2015 the Conference changed its name to Christian Mennonite Conference.
Today
Today, 9 CMC churches in western Canada still gather weekly to celebrate the faithfulness of God, the triumph of Christ, and the work of the Spirit.
"For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ."
1 Corinthians 3:11
